Time is standing still for the Lamberth family. Mark and Angie and their son Nolan need your prayer. Mark was in a dirt bike accident around noon today in which he was severely injured. He was taken to a local trauma center. He is in ICU to this moment. The odds are not on his side for survival. The Lamberth family and friends ask that you would pray for a miracle for Mark. I found this through Renee Garcia’s blog–and was drawn to your story because my husband suffered a severe brain injury 9 years ago. The doctors had little hope that he would be restored, and by God’s grace alone, he was fully restored. I am in tears just imagining where you are, what you are doing, how you feel, how he looks–I can remember all of it–including my fears, my longings, and the depth of my hurt like it was yesterday–my heart aches for you though we’ve never met.

Mark, Here we are praying for a miracle. We want you back, we love you. I hope you get to read all this someday soon. Do you remember when I met you when me and Matt were first dating. I was seeking something spiritual. Looking to books and school to find a belief. I wanted to believe in Jesus but wanted it in black and white. I just wasn’t getting it. You talked to me a lot about all the stuff I was checking into. One day you said this the most simple thing.You said You aren’t going to find it in a book. Try praying for your faith. I took that advice. 2 weeks from that day I began the best most life changing relationship of my life. I never told you that that comment meant the world to me thanks . We know beyond any question, that God is a God of miracles. HE is THE GREAT PHYSICIAN. We continue to trust HIM for you all. My name is Brian Wurzell and I’m representing the church family of Nathan and Mandy Lamberth out here in Arizona. I just wanted to let you guys know that our team is praying and thinking of you all today. We’re praying for Marks body and that God would stand in it and do the miracle that would bring Him the glory. We’re praying with the faith to believe that He would actually consider doing this miracle in Mark.
These are certainly those moments when questions like ‘where is God in all of this’ surface and yet the beautiful thing is that He is in the middle of this tragedy all over the place. We’re praying that you would be able to see the ‘there’s God’ in this ‘where’s God moment’. We can’t wait to hear the ‘there’s God’ stories emerge.

Just wanted to say thanks you for the updates. Rob and I are checking often throughout the day and you guys are constintly on our prayers. We have had a couple of people in our family with severe head trauma and have seen both survive and continue living their lives. We have also seen the many miracles of modern medicine in our children’s lives and when my mom was expected to die from her car accident. All our living proof of God’s hand and plan for our lives. I know the power of prayer and am amazed by this sight and the many people that it has reached. My heart beaks for what you are going through, but stay strong. You are never alone!

I work at Misson with Mark and he has touched my life in so many ways- 1 in particular was 2 mths ago when my little boy was hurt and had to have surgery to fix his broken arm, but was really scared Mark made it a point to go into the or with him to help him feel better! I just wanted to say that I am praying for you and how excellent Mission Hospital is especially in the SICU Trauma team. I lead the Patient and Advisory Council for the Critical Care Team now for the hospital and it is through my own brain trauma that this has all started. You can read about it on my Caring Bridge site by going back to the beginning. I have full confidence that the medical team at Mission can help you if you can be helped. I pray the transfer goes smoothly and please contact me if you need anything. The hospital has all of my information. God is the ultimate healer and Mark will be healed if that is what God’s plan is for him. Hang in there in the meantime as these types of journeys are marathons not sprints. It is a long haul and you will need a lot of support to carry you through.

Working here we see sadness, joy and miracles everyday… I pray that the Lord holds Mark and his family in his hands and that MCH saying that “Were Miracles happen everyday” holds true for this fellow employee… I am praying for him / his family and the Labor/Delivery team today is doing the same.

Mark! We watched you take off into the wild blue yonder and prayed that God would carry you safely to Mission. He has answered so many prayers so far and I trust He will answer our greatest prayer: that you recover from your injuries!
Now that we’ve all gathered at the new hospital (your work!), we know why you liked working here. The steak hamburgers are awesome! I hope to come eat one with you some day real soon.
I pray you will read and hear of the amazing outpouring of love that is happening all around you. Jesus is amazing and His presence is here!

You have people from all over praying for you. I’m sure you take great comfort in knowing that Jesus and His Mother Mary will be with you throughout this ordeal, and whatever the outcome there will be meaning, purpose, and an eternity of blessings ahead. I do believe in the power of prayer and all the comments show we are bombarding heaven with them!!
Stay strong, pray for all the doctors and medical staff involved, and Mark will never leave our thoughts, we love you.

Jan and I have been praying for Mark and you intently during these days of waiting for a miracle. I wish we could be there now but we will be there next week. I pray for the doctors and sfaff as they provide the best treatment possible for surviving this injury. We were so sad to receive the phone call last Friday. May God sustain you through this unwanted adventure. I am so please to read the messages from across the county of people praying for Mark’s recovery.

I had a craniectomy too and I’d love to meet you. I will try stopping by the hospital tomorrow to introduce myself. You are in good hands at Mission Hospital. Their mission statement is “As long as there is breath, there is hope!” They will not give up on Mark ever………great team of professionals.

We have friends that were in a very similar situation a few years back. He was in a motorcycle accident and was in a coma for a full month before he woke up. After rehabilitation he is basically back to normal. We are praying for God to do a great work.

Sarah and I have been reading all your prayer warrior comments. It seems to me that you have a big army on your side and your Chief leader the LORD is with you at all times!!!! It is amazing to see how the family of GOD can be drawn together, it is amazing how many people the Lamberths don’t even know that GOD has called upon for this battle. It is also so great to see how you guys have been such a light in bringing glory to God to those you do know. I know that this is a hard time, but we are in continual prayer for you Mark, Angie, Nolan, Aunt Barbie, Uncle Jimmy, Amy, Matt, and Mandy. I was one of Nolan’s preschool teachers, and our kids were in the same class the last two years. From the moment we found out we have not stopped praying for all of you. Carissa continues to ask about Nolan and his Daddy and says to please tell Nolan she says Hi. All of the preschool staff at Riverside Christian are praying for Mark, Nolan and for you. Hi Angie,
I posted a comment last night about my husband’s brain injury 9 years ago. Right after posting the comment, I was stunned to see that you live in southern california.
Then tonight, I just about fell over when I saw that he was transferred to Mission Hospital today. My husband’s life was saved at Mission Hospital–that is where he went after his brain injury occured. They are amazing there–Mark really is in the best place!
All of my husband’s doctors and nurses are still there and this was 9 years ago.
My husband also had a craniotomy and was placed in a medically induced coma for almost two weeks. Doctors kept his skull off of his head for 6 months so he had to wear a helmet everywhere he went. Then, once 6 months had passed, they put a fake skull back on.
It was a long road and a long recovery to get to where he is now, but by the grace of God he is here and he has been fully restored.
Please contact me if you ever want to talk or if you have any questions.
I know I can’t ease your pain, but sometimes being able to talk to someone who has been there before–and has come out the other side in a great way–can maybe bring some comfort and understanding.
I believe that the SICU still has their wall of fame still, perhaps Mark Kay Bader would be able to show you who we are (although we look much dfferent now!). She is an awesome nurse and although it has been so long, she hopefully will remember. We kept in touch for about 6 years following his injury.
Anyway, I am praying for you all….May His grace and mercy be on all of you tonight.

I know Mark from Mission Hospital. We’ve worked together, although not often..his work ethic and commitment to his job would resonate Christ in all the fabric of his being. He was working for an audience of One….. Angie, my family and I are praying for Mark, yourself and your son, Nolan.

i think the cool thing about you Mark is that an injury or time of trial isn’t necessary to inspire words like these to be spoken about you. Even some small things you might have said to me over a decade ago and maybe you even forgot? but i didn’t. years later, some of those statements & actions come up fresh in my mind. It’s amazing how the Lord’s ways become obviously higher than ours during these trials. I hope you get to see all of this outpouring, grace and support soon. I know you’ll be blessed by it. God’s grace in our lives affects so many, in so many positive ways we never think of or get to see… especially in a genuine and obedient approach like your’s.

Dearest Lamberth Family,
I am trembling as I write this because it is all too familiar. My brother was in an accident just over a year ago and was in a coma and suffered a traumatic brain injury. Although every case is different, our families have one thing in common, Jesus. I will be pleading Mark’s case before His throne this morning and praying consistently for him and your family.
(I know that when we were told of the horrible odds against my brother, we were determined to beat them. We looked for a story of hope to encourage us and also to give us an idea of the road we had ahead of us. I woke this morning to the sound of steady rain. Living here in Southern California, it’s a welcome feeling. My mind wandered to the nearby hillsides that recently burned and how quickly from the ash, life will start to grow. My next thought was the nearby Sierra high country that Mark loves so much. There in the alpine air, winter has clearly arrived. Rain here means snow there – deep and pure white. Bears fat with berries and trees drunk with sunshine are settling in as the Mountain nods to sleep. All will be quiet now. The Mountain does not fear Winter. Warmth and Spring will once again come to melt the drifts, expose the rocks and fill the rivers with spectacular power. Then as before, the trail will lay waiting to guide Mark on his next adventure – and the Mountain will smile.

Thanks so much for the updates. This blog is really a great thing. Not only do we get updates, but we have a chance to post our prayers, and I know a lot of people are growing in faith just from reading the prayers. As Mark did for me when I was his instructor at the Ortho Tech program, He really built me up as a great model of a Christian, and now, He continues to build others faith. You Rock, Mark! I will pray without ceasing and have built a prayer chain with those I know at work at the VA hospital, Albuquerque New Mexico. Angie and Nolan-My heart really goes out to both of you, and I can’t even imagine what pain you both may be experiencing, but I have great comfort to know that you have Christ guiding you all through this.

I am finding it hard to get through these last few days without constantly thinking about you all. Of course, as soon as I think of you, I start praying. We just found out about Mark today through Dustie. We are so sorry, we love you guys and will be praying for his recovery. We know that God can work miracles because he has in our family as you know. It was nice to meet all of you today. I hope my case can be an encouragement to you. It helps me to know that a serious illness can also be encouraging to others. It was really hard what I went through and if God can use it to help you and others, I’m thrilled for that. The Bible says:

The God of All Comfort
3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received.
I can confirm that this verse is true. God continues to use my illness to help other people and that amazes me that something that could have been so horrible, has turned to something worth sharing. Let me know if I can help you in any way. You are in good hands at Mission. You will love the entire SICU Team. I do!! They are remarkable people with a noble profession.

We have seen many people with severe head injuries get better and some God has other plans. There have been some that we don’t think will make it and they do recover to our astonishment. God may want Mark with Him and His purpose for our pain we will not know or even ask. I barely knew Mark here at Mission. After reading these messages and prayers and feeling this outpouring of love I want to know him better and I hope He leaves him with us for now.

Dear Lamber Family,
I was in 40 Days of Love with Karen Cronk. She told me of your accident. My family is praying for you. I know there is power to prayer. I was diagnosed with stage 4 Cancer almost 4 years ago. They told me it didn’t look good and to “Get my affairs in order.” I had people praying for me from all over the world. I am cancer free today. Even though my doctor is not a Christian he said my recovery was a “miricle”. Keep the faith and beleive. I’ve added you to many prayer lists and my family in Boston (powerful prayers) are all praying hard. God Bless you and give you peace.

I am sorry that you have to go through this. I know that God will give you everything that you need to make it through each day. Sometimes you may struggle to make it through the next minute, but God knows. I know that prayer works- my brother, David, is miraculously recovering from his TBI, and my family is determined to spread the good news and give you hope. The doctor’s all did an amazing job, but they told us mostly the worst case scenarios. It’s important to keep perspective- they don’t know everything about the brain, and so they cannot give the hope they’d love to give. And now, looking back, as frustrated as we felt when they stole our hope, we are now thankful for it. Because now we know how far God has brought my brother. God created Mark, and God can fix his brain. Reversible damage or not. So keep up your faith, because it is possible. May God’s will be done!

So, I am praying constantly for Mark and your whole family. Our God is an awesome God. I work with Mark in OR at Mission Hospital. I had the opportunity to meet a very pleasant, nice and smart young man and always there to be of service to his co-workers and patients (especially patients). This website is a testimony to the lives he touched.
Mark, I pray that the Lord our God will heal you completely and that He’ll give us (your Mission family) more years ahead to get to know you and your family. He said if 2 or 3 are gathered in His name He is in their midst. There are hundreds of people gathered in His name praying for you. And I believe He is in our midst. God can open blind eyes, restore limbs, raise the dead, and save souls. And it’s not as unusual as we think. He does these things every day. I am praying for a miracle that will make his name known and give him so much glory.

Our Monday night bible study lifted you up last night to God, asking for peace, understanding, stamina and of course miracles. Josie is really feeling for Nolan and praying for him specifically.

At times like this, we are all confronted by the fact that life is fragile. While I pray, fervently, for a miracle for Mark, I also pray for those of you who don’t have the kind of relationship with God, through His Son, Jesus that Mark has. I know my niece, Angie, and nephew, Mark, well enough to be certain that that is their heart’s desire for everyone who reads this blog. Call upon the name of the Lord for this is the day of salvation.

You dnt know me, I have visited OCC with my children a few times and everyone there are kind and loving. I pray to the Great Spirit above that he protects your husband as well as yourself and son. It hurt my heart when i read what happen to your husband. Pastor Josh sent me a tex and i was shocked by all of it. All i can say is stay strong and keep your head up. You are surrounded by loved ones far and near so lean on a shoulder when needed. I will keep talking to my Great Sirit for all of you.

Lord, I place the Lamberth family at the feet of Jesus. I ask that you supply their every need. For Mark, be his healer and strength. For his family be comfort, peace, and joy. Our 13th wedding anniversary passed while I was still in a coma. It was a tough day for my husband and he posted the neatest letter to me on my Caring Bridge site. It was on April 2, 2007. I think many times we think about all of the big events in life, birthdays, weddings, etc. and then when you find yourself in a situation like this, you realize how important just being able to give a smile is, feeding yourself, doing chores, etc. I actually enjoy doing our laundry now because I can. I’m sure you would love to be washing some of Mark’s dirty clothes about now.
Sounds like some good plans for progress are being made for Mark. He is laying in the bed that I laid in too so hopefully that brings some good things for him too. You have the best in medical staff covering for him now so hang in there………It was great to meet Nolan today. There is much available for him too to help process all that is going on in his mind. Everyone’s world including his has been turned upside down. Let me know if you need anything….Happy to help where I can.

When we were at the hospital with Angie, God’s presence was everywhere. He brought people in to comfort Angie and her wonderful family like, Lisa Foto. She was a blessing to meet and spoke high praises for our God, the hospital and the staff at Mission! A Doctor came in and offered a pizza dinner to all the family and friends that evening. Mark’s fellow employees came in with loving hugs for Angie and well wishes for their beloved friend Mark. We love you Angie. Mark, we want to see your smiling face soon!! Angie, whisper in Marks ear that we love him too! See you soon.

We were so sadened to hear of Mark’s untimely accident. We were just in California a couple of weeks ago and saw and talked with Mark and Nolan. It just shows how each day is a precious gift and should not be taken for granted. Mark, Angie, Nolan and the extended Lamberth family, we are thinking about you and praying for you and will extend the circle of prayer to our friends here on the island of Kauai in Hawaii.

As I pray for Mark, I remember that Mark has always been a man of strength and courage. In his younger days, they may have been a little misguided. I remember tales of Matt and Mark skateboarding down Van Buren with a bike towing them. I remember them going off a six foot high loading dock on their skateboards. Then a little maturity and wisdom settled in and they used that strength and courage for better things such as hiking the John Muir Trail. I am praying that Mark will use that God-given strength and courage to continue fighting this difficult but good fight. May God help you, Mark. Amen!

Nolan has been on my heart today. He was always so excited to be a part of Sunday school, and is definitely the coolest six-year old I know! I pray that this experience draws him closer to the Lord and he will look back on this time in his childhood as one in which he learned of the Lord’s faithfulness and goodness, and the power of prayer; and I know it will be one in which he sees his mother trusting the Lord with great faith. I continue to pray for Nolan as well as for you, Angie, and of course for Mark.

I’m Lisa Foto’s daughter. I heard about Mark through Heather earlier this week. I’m so glad that my Mom was able to connect with Angie, she is a blessing to many, many people. She told us today that Mark is in the same bed that she herself was in in SICU a little over a year ago. My Mom and her husband also celebrated their anniversary while she was in her coma for five weeks (you’ll have to ask her which one it was… I don’t remember but I know she will). I’m so thankful to hear that Mark is making progress, even if it is just a little bit.

Mark, Angie, and Nolan,
How my heart grieves for what you are going through, but soars for what God is doing in all of our lives. We have an amazing earthly family that God has blessed, and an even larger spiritual family that God uses to bring glory to himself. I know God has much in store for you guys. I know he will uphold you and supply all you need because he has done this many times for all of us.
Mark, you are three days younger than Nathan so I have connected you with him in the “cousin ladder.” You boys, along with the other cousins, have always had an eagerness for life. You make us laugh and you make us cry because of your love and caring sacrifice for others, as well as your incredible love for God. God has blessed our family because of you, Mark. We love you.
Angie, I remember when you first entered the family as Mark’s girlfriend. I wanted you to be a part of our family because I love you and your generous, sweet spirit. (Remember I told you that if you and Mark didn’t work out, I had a son that you could marry to be part of our family!) God has blessed our family because of you, Angie. We love you!
Nolan, you hold a special place in my heart because you were born right before our son, Jeff, died. We came out to California and went to the “mansion” in the mountains for a get away with the family. We were having our own worship service that Sunday. You and your parents drove up and came in during our singing. Family passed you around. When I held you in my arms, you reminded me so much of my sons when they were tiny babies. You helped me through my grief and pain. God has blessed our family because of you, Nolan. We love you.

Heard about this from Los’ twitter. Please know that I’m praying for all of you. I know how hard this can be – next week will mark my brother’s sixth month in the hospital. He was put on a trach the second week in (back in July), and he’s been on it since. It sounds scary at first, but it’s not as bad as it seems. (I’ll admit it took me a few days to get used to looking at!) I’m praying that God gives you peace about this (and all the other stuff going on). I’m also praying that you find rest. I know how hard it can be to camp out in waiting rooms…to continually eat hospital cafeteria food…to balance hospital life and home. God is bigger than the chaos, the pain, the uncertainty. Take rest in this. I’m sending up big prayers for Nolan. My brother has little ones, too – 3 boys (ages 6, 4, and 1). They have some rough days, but overall…they’ve taken this whole thing much better than the rest of us!

We are praying for Mark and his family. We went through this same situation with our son a year ago and know what you are feeling and experiencing. It is a hard road that you are on. Remember who is in charge though, our God. He is in control when you feel out of control. He has Mark in His hands and knows what to do. Keep the faith, and when you don’t feel it, or you are questioning it, just know that you have sooo many people praying for you. Submit to what God is taking you all through, because He does have a plan for all of you. You will never be the same again, nor your life. God is NOT making a mistake, nor has He forgotton you. He is right by your side. Just hold on to His promises and remember what you know about God. His way is the best way, just follow and trust in the Lord. We have been and will continue to pray for Mark and his family and friends.

I love that little children’s song that says, “My God is so Great! So Strong and so Mighty…There’s NOTHING my God cannot do!”
God continues to hold our Mark in His loving hands and He is using these wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at Mission Hospital to facilitate the healing of Mark. Mission Hospital has brought hope to us. This is indeed a very unique place. Our hearts are warmed by the thoughtfulness of these kind, caring people.
Praise God for what we have learned today. Thank you Father for hearing and answering prayer. Thank you, our dear loving heavenly Father for encouraging us today and for the good news we hear!
We are humbled to read these comments on this blog and to hear from so many family, friends and brothers and sisters in the Lord…many we don’t even know but have heard about Mark and are praying. I cannot thank you all enough!
Please join us on Friday to pray and fast for Mark’s complete healing! And we will give Him all the glory!

He truly is an Awesome God!
I pray that many lives will be changed through the fast on Friday, including Mark’s.
I pray that he will be miraculously healed, that it will be undeniably God’s hands at work.
I pray for the doctor’s and nurses to be in awe at Mark’s progress, that they will see that it is God working and be encouraged by it.
I pray that Angie and Nolan will remain strong and faithful. I pray that they will find gentle peace and security within God’s comforting arms.

My sister Rose works at Mission OR and was helped by Mark when she needed it. For that I thank Mark and send my thoughts and prayers to you all at this time. The team at Mission are great and from your updates it seems that they are taking good care of him. God has a plan for all of us and we trust in his mercy and I pray that he will keep you all safe.
God said that when two or three are joined together in prayer our voice is louder. I may be living England but I am adding my prayers to yours to ask God to look after Mark and the Mission staff and of course his family.

We continue to uphold you all in our prays, love and thoughts continually. We will continue to stand in the gap with you all interceding on Mark’s behalf. I eagerly look to this site to read of what God is doing for Mark and rejoice as I read the progress that God is allowing to take place. What a privilege is ours to fast and pray for him and to sit back and marvel at what God is doing and what He is going to do in his life. Not only is God working physically in Mark’s life, but He is working among God’s people giving us the opportunity of seeing His awesome hand at work and to observe the mighty, miraculous deeds He can do and is doing. Dear Angie…..My name is Susan Davis and I have stood in your position for the past 143 days. My Partner Karen Kozawa was in Mission on July 28th for a level 5 Brain Aneurysm. I met Lisa Foto on day one of this journey and she has remained by my side all of this time. We almost lost Karen 6 times, but do to God and the outstanding, erudite doctors and nurses at Missions SICU, Karen is alive today. She is home, but remains in outpatient therapy. I cannot say enough in words about the staff at Mission. I understand Mark works there and so does my brother, so we al know how great the hsopital is.
I am praying for Mark, your son, and You…….like I said, I have traveled in your footsteps so I have a perspective like you. I plan to come to Mission in the next few days to offer whatever support I can. Please know, for you this is a very long marithon. No one understands that better than me.

Please know that Mark is in the best hands possible. With love and support he has the best chance of survival at Mission. My heart goes out to all of you….143 days ago, I lived at Mission. Karen was in an induced Coma for 5 and 1/2 weeks.

Suffering as Preparation
Suffering can also be used by God to prepare us for a special task ahead of us.
The Bible doesn’t tell us what Job’s task might have been after God completely restored him, but it certainly tells us what happened with Joseph, in the book of Genesis. Through unbelievable adversity as a young man, God prepared him for a task beyond his imagination.
You remember his story. Abandoned and betrayed by his brothers, and sold into slavery, he was eventually elevated to a position of great power. As the prime minister of Egypt, the second most influential man in the world, he was given charge of Egypt’s food stores during a worldwide famine.
Then the day came when ten of his brothers, who thought Joseph was long dead, came down to Egypt from Canaan to get food for their starving families. The moment Joseph saw and recognized them, he could have had them summarily executed on the spot.
Instead, he forgave them, and made this amazing statement:
“But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.” (Genesis 50:20 NKJV)
Earlier, he told them: “But don’t be angry with yourselves that you did this to me, for God did it. He sent me here ahead of you to preserve your lives” (Genesis 45:5 NLT).
Did you catch that? Joseph didn’t just say “God allowed it,” though you could describe it that way, too. But he actually said, “God did it.” Why? Joseph said, “To save many people alive.”
God delivered Joseph from his brothers’ jealousy, from a false accusation by his master’s wife, and then from the dungeon, so he could interpret the dream of the Pharaoh and make provision for the future. And many, many people across the ancient world lived as a result. The suffering he went through prepared him for the job that God had for him.
Maybe the Lord is allowing you to go through some difficult circumstances right now to prepare you for something He wants you to do tomorrow. I realize that thought might not comfort you all that much in your present distress. You may be thinking, “No, this suffering doesn’t make any sense at all. It’s meaningless. There’s no point to it.”
Joseph might have thought that same thing at several points in his life journey. It’s certain that Job did! But the truth is, God might very well be preparing you to touch someone else’s life in a way no one else could.
If someone just found out they have cancer and you are a cancer survivor, you have no idea how much encouragement and perspective you can bring to such a person, who feels as though he or she has been handed a death sentence.
You have no idea how much comfort that can bring. And it would be something that only you could say. No one else could say those words with the same kind of credibility.
Once, we had a man named Brian Birdwell give his testimony at our church. Brian was in the Pentagon on September 11, 2001, when those planes crashed into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Many of Brian’s friends were killed that day. He survived, though he was burned over much of his body, and had to go through excruciating, multiple skin graft operations.
Afterward, I had lunch with Brian, and we had a lot of fun together. He is very witty and a great pleasure to be with. In my opinion, he is also a genuine American hero.
Before we finished our meal, I asked him if he wanted to do something with me that afternoon. He thanked me, but then said, “Greg, I’d love to, but I can’t. I have to go to a hospital.”
“What’s going on?” I asked him.
“Well,” he said, “whenever I go speak in some location, I always find out where the local burn ward is, and I go and visit the patients.”
I remember thinking how wonderful that was. Who could have a more effective ministry to burn victims than someone who had been through the agony of skin grafts and burn treatments as Brian had?
Imagine being an individual burned over most of your body, and thinking, “My life is over.” But then a survivor comes along and says, “Look. I know how hard it is. I have been there. But I got through it! And here is what God has been doing in and through my life since I got out of the hospital. He can do the same for you!”
Paul, who had his own serious issues with suffering, wrote: “He is the source of every mercy and the God who comforts us. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When others are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. You can be sure that the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ” (2 Corinthians 1:3-5 NLT).
God will give you that comfort—over and beyond what you can personally contain—so that you can share it with others.

I check this page several times each day and have been continually in prayer for Mark and all of you since I first read about this on Sunday. You all have been in our prayers since we were told about the accident. God is so good even in our darkest hours He is there, not leaving us for one second. Psalm 30:5 carried me through some of my deepest valleys and I want to share it with you all. “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” It is God in His wonderful grace that allows us to see and know that He is working in our lives, comforting us and giving us His strength to get through each hour. We do not personally know Mark or Angie, but we have met Troy, Noah and Scott through our daughter Kimm. After being riveted by reading the whole website we feel that we now know the courage, fortitude and faith displayed by Mark, Angie and ALL of their family and friends. And it is awesome. i am like many people on this website that do not know mark or angie,but know afriend of mark’s from the hospital and ortho tech class who told me about his accident. please know that as a believer in the power of prayer and the word of God,I know that God is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all that we can ask or think.His word says by his stripes we are healed.Icannot wait to read the blog that tells the miracle that is about to take place in mark and his families live.God has the last word and know that Iam praying for all of you. What wonderful news today! Thank God!
I want you to know that the neighborhood will be getting together to pray for you tonight at 7pm. Mark also continues to be prayed for through the RFMC prayer chain. I am so excited that HE is healing Mark, even if slowly, It never ceases to amaze me how God works his wonders. And He is bringing his believers together in the process! It is almost 2 am Christmas morning–still up getting everything ready–you know how that goes. Check your blog several times a day and I was so encouraged this morning to hear that Mark’s pupil’s dilated some as doctor checked. Even after the doctor’s comments on the last blog entry, it is such a blessing to see the faith and hope those around you continue to have—trusting the Lord for His intervention. We continue to pray for a miracle and are also trusting the Lord for His intervention. Our thoughts and prayers are with you….I know your close family will all be there with you today—-Praying the Lord will chose this time when you are all together for Mark to show a significant sign of improvement.

My husband, David, was involved in a work related accident/fall and suffered a TBI with fractures, swelling and bleeding in the brain, spinal fractures, and acute respiratory distress as a result of the accident in March of this year. We’ve been where you are at and we can tell you that we wouldn’t be where we are right now if it wasn’t for the power of prayer, family and a great deal of FAITH. He spent months in ICU and after many trials he was released and continues improving with each passing day. Believe in Miracles b/c through God he proved all of the doctors and nurses wrong and remains one of St. Mary’s hospital’s miracles. Angie and Nolan, My thoughts are prayers are with you at this very difficult time. I pray to you both that Mark will make a full recovery.
I am a friend of Mark’s from the orthopedic class. I am from Colorado and remember Mark and I were talking about when he lived in Colorado.
Mark, I have been praying for you everyday. Nobody loves you more than God. He is working on you and in you all the time. I pray to God he will heal you and strengthen you in the best of health. I pray that Gods hands are with you and your family. Keep strong Mark. Don’t lose faith. God is working on you in your body, mind, and spirit. Hang in there Mark.

I read the story in the PE and it touched my heart. I do not know you but we are all brothers and sisters if we know Jesus……..so we are praying and declaring complete healing over our brother..complete healing!!!!!!!!!!Jesus never said I would kinda a heal you. Dear Angie,
I brought a get well card to your office before Christmas for the girls to give to you for Marks speedy recovery. I hope you have received it.
Kathy had told me of the bad accident and I felt so bad for your Husband Mark and you Angie and Nolan, I ran right out to get the card and hand deliver it that same day.
I can see the Lovely photos you have posted in your office and you look like the “All American Poster Family full of Love and Happiness”. They are such incredable photos of you all that they really stand out in my mind. You all look so very happy.
I have been praying for you and Mark and Nolan and I have also brought Mark and your family up in Prayer at our Bible Study.
Tonight is New years Eve, and you are heavy on my mind, and are in my prayers. I will lift Mark up to our Bible Study Group again tonight as we pray for his perfect healing and bring him back to you as good as new, into your arms with a big smile for you Angie and Nolan.
Mark is young and he has a lot of fight in him and I pray that God guide him back to you. With much Love and tears shed for Mark, as I pray for you and Nolan all day today and tonight.
Tonight we will pray that God Brings him perfect health to start your New Years off…It may take a long time for the healing, but I pray that he be as good as new as soon as possible. Hi Angie, Mark, and Nolan, Happy New Year. This year will be different but the outcome will be even better. For with God all things are possible. God is in control! Mark is being held in God’s tender care for He loves him and He loves you too, I pray that you feel His presence. You do not know us. We are good friends of your friends and old neighbors Jim and Gloria Howell, and we are all believers. We all know the power of our Lord Jesus Christ and how he performed miracle after miracle. He knows that Mark needs Him now and Mark is in His care.

Dear Angie lan and Immediate family. Our hearts go out to all of you because of your loss of your loved one. I did’nt know your husband or your family until we met at the intensive care unit. My wife had been admitted to the hospital just days before Mark and she was in Intensive Care for about four weeks and you and I got to know each other throughout our trials. I nearly lost my wife a couple of times due to complications during the procedures (she ginally went in for an Cerbral Aneurysm and after that is was one complication after another.

Dear Angie, Nolan and Immediate Family: (Con’t) I did not finish my comments above because I was having trouble with my computer and accidentally submitted the comments before finishing what I wanted to say, so I will continue from here. “But the good Lord was’nt ready to take my wife home yet and we still have a lot of hurdles to overcome since leaving the rehab unit. My Son and Daughters from different parts ot the Country and myself were continuously following Marks progress while we were there in the SICU waiting room and later thru your website. ( And thanks you very much for the baskets that you distributed to the SICU patients during Christmas, it was very generous of you given the ciircumstances your yourself were in.) We did notice what a fine and holy family you all come from because you were always in prayer and very closely united. Angie, know that my wife and I will keep praying that the good Lord give you Peace, Comfort and Tranquility. We know what pain and loneliness you are endurng, but with time the Good Lord will help you through this loss and you will find comfort knowing he is with our Lord Jesus Christ in Heaven. Tell Mark’s Father and Mother that we will also be praying for them during this great loss. Again we are deeply sorry for your loss, and we will keep you and Nolan in our prayers. God Bless You, Nolan, the Parents, and the rest of your family and know that God is always with you.

Hi again. I commented on your most recent post a little earlier tonight, but I’ve just read your entire blog and I wanted to say more.
After reading it all, I can honestly say that I feel a lot of gratitude for all the family and friends who supported you, and care very much about you and Nolan and what has been happening in your lives.
I hope you won’t think it weird for this to be coming from a stranger. Maybe I’m just having a particularly alone-feeling night. Maybe that’s why I was led to your blog. But, thank you. I cried in a way I haven’t been able to for a long time. Some of your words felt like they came straight out of my heart.
